How to detect an air flow meter? Detecting the air flow meter is a key step in ensuring the normal operation of the engine. When the air flow meter malfunctions, the engine may experience unstable idle or poor acceleration. When conducting the inspection, first unplug the plug of the air flow meter. If the fault disappears, it indicates that there is a deviation in the air flow meter signal, rather than damage. The electronic control unit has been continuously controlling fuel injection based on erroneous signals with deviations, resulting in imbalanced mixing ratios, abnormal engine combustion, unstable engine speed, or insufficient power. After unplugging the Bailu Yu plug, the electronic control unit will not detect the intake signal and enter the fail safe function. The throttle position sensor signal will replace the air flow meter signal, allowing the engine to operate at the substitute value. The disappearance of the fault indicates that the signal was incorrect before, but the signal was correct after unplugging. To more accurately detect the air flow meter, dynamic signal voltage can be measured at the signal end. Under idle conditions, the standard voltage should be between 0.8 and 1.4V; When accelerating to full load, the voltage signal can approach 4V. If the voltage is not within this range, it may be due to damage to the air flow meter itself or dirt, which needs to be cleaned. If the fault persists even after unplugging the air flow meter plug, it indicates that the air flow meter itself is damaged or there is a problem with the related wiring, causing the electronic control unit to be unable to receive the correct air flow meter signal. The electronic control unit will confirm the signal is poor, ente
r the fail safe function, and store the fault code in the memory. If the fault phenomenon changes after unplugging the plug of the air flow meter, it indicates that the air flow meter is in good condition. Before unplugging the plug, the electronic control unit controls the fuel injection accurately based on the air flow meter signal, and the engine performs well in all operating conditions. However, when unplugging the air flow meter plug, the electronic control unit will control based on the throttle position sensor signal, resulting in slight differences in fuel injection quantity and relatively poorer engine operating conditions. 2. How to measure the quality of a hot film air flow meter

The hot film air flow meter can be quickly judged by professional methods such as voltage detection and data flow analysis.
1 The appearance inspection first observes the air flow meter body and its wiring harness, checking for physical damage such as broken sensor housing, damaged wiring, or loose plugs. Any obvious damage may cause abnormal operation2. Voltage detection (measured with a multimeter) This is the most essential detection method, which needs to be carried out when the vehicle is started: • Power supply voltage: Measure the power pin voltage of the flowmeter, and the standard value is usually 12V (refer to the vehicle maintenance manual for details). If the voltage is abnormal, the problem may lie in the power supply line. Signal voltage: Measure the signal line voltage under different operating conditions such as engine idle, medium speed, and high speed. Under normal circumstances, the voltage should steadily change with the increase of air intake. If there is no change, fluctuation or deviati
